A-Grade Capsule Collection
This year, Chivas Venture – the platform from leading blended Scotch whisky, Chivas, that supports the world’s hottest social entrepreneurs – returned for its seventh year in South Africa with a dynamic new format.
The programme sees Chivas championing and supporting grassroots action in local communities around the world and to launch, Chivas South Africa teamed up with streetwear legend and GRADE Africa founder Zaid Osman, who together hand-selected four local designers (Sabelo Shabalala, Josh Badenhorst, Robyn Agulhas and Lindiwe Modiselle) to develop A-Grade, a new streetwear capsule collection promoting positive change.
Together, the collaboration saw them proudly design and produce the collection sustainably, made entirely from local materials and supported local employment.
All proceeds from the sales of the collection went back to the designers’ own businesses and donated to the Grade Africa Foundation – whose mission is to eliminate extreme poverty and bring unique opportunities back home to Africa.
The collection launch saw 14 pieces of global coverage across online and social, in key publications such as Pause HER, tmrw, Screenshot and DSTNGR and on the social channels of Fashion Director, Carlotta Constant; Wonderland Editor, Toni Blaze; and model and transgender activist, Kai Jamal.
